559 Turritella Agate is the popular name for a brown, translucent, fossiliferous Agate from the Green River Formation of Wyoming, USA. Large fossil snails stand out in a white-to-tan colour that contrasts with the brownish Agate. Incorrectly named decades ago, it is instead a freshwater snail, Elimia tenera, a member of the Pleuroceridae family.
